Bodhgaya Biennale is founded by Canvas in 2016, t o promote local and global plural visual culture in India and Bihar as well.

Canvas

CANVAS, a non-profit art promoting trust and Centre for visual culture, has been organizing various activities pertaining to visual arts & culture in the state of Bihar. Its motivation is to provide appropriate platform to Indian and international artists, to discuss their artistic expression and share their experience with local and national audience. It also works to bring out the hidden talents of young & upcoming local artists in collaboration with the established & seasoned ones. In pursuit of fulfilling its intent, CANVAS has taken part and performed various activities from time to time; it has been publishing an art magazine ‘Canvas’. CANVAS also has one artist space in a concrete slum type backward area of Patna with studio, Display and Screening room for unique Cultural Experience. it aslo works with the backward areasand community.

Bodhgaya Biennale

Bodhgaya biennale is an International Art Summit started by CANVAS from December 2016. . In its first edition around fifteen countries along with India, have been participated like, UK, Netherland, Shrilanka, cuba, Bangladesh, Cuba, Finland, USA, Australia, Indonesia etc. CANVAS, has organised its 2nd edition of BODHGAYA BIENNALE 2018 ’ from 17th -23rdDecember, 2018 at Bodh Gaya. The Conceptual framework of Bodhgaya Biennale redirect and explores, through the array of exhibits and lateral events, the effect of shifting technology , invitable migration, rapid communication, flow of capital, economic rupture, ethnic conflicts, unequal human conditionsand neo liberal hybridization or consesus, on South Asia and elswhere in the globe. BGB is a not for profit, non commercial, voluntary and cultural activity for education purpose.
