Bodhgaya Biennale has nominated Ms. Yasmeen Siddiqui and Ms. Robin Pickett as Curatorial Advisor
Ms Anindita dutta on behalf of Bodhgaya Biennale has announced Ms. Yasmeen Siddiqui and Ms. Robin Pickett as Curatorial Advisor for the 3rd Edition of the Biennale.
Ms. Yasmeen Siddiqui is the founding director of Minerva Projects, whose objective is to support interdisciplinary artists who have expressed the desire to analyze their practice, and where curatorial ideas are tested in service to publishing books. In tandem with this work, Siddiqui writes and edits, having her work published in Hyperallergic, ART PAPERS, Cairo Times, Medina Magazine, Flash Art, Modern Painters, NKA and The Brooklyn Rail. Current projects include a book-length manuscript on the subject of home and a series of essays considering authoritarianism through the works of artists and authors. She is also co-editing the anthology The Storytellers of Art Histories (Intellect Books, 2021). Siddiqui is a core faculty member at the School of Visual Art at Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York and the Master of Arts in Critical Craft Studies at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina.
Speaking over her association with Bodhgaya Biennale 2020 Ms. Yasmeen Siddiqui said that “the mission of Minerva Projects is to publish books that elucidate the work of artists, art histories, and curators. The imprint Minerva Press is honored to publish a volume reflecting on the third Bodhgaya Biennale (2020-2021). The primary goal of this book will be to shine a light on the way folk arts, crafts, and contemporary arts infuse each other while struggling for supremacy, visibility, prominence, and commercial value. The Bodhgaya context is a striking situation that permits and in fact flourishes when these art forms co-exist, aware of each other, indebted to the other. Minerva Press has begun the preliminary work of identifying authors, artist, thinkers, and activists for this volume, which is committed to destabilizing hierarchies that demarcate and constrain these kinds of art within the larger context of visual culture”
Ms. Robin Pickett has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Art/Graphic Design). After having owned her own design business for over a decade in Indiana, USA, she has now been exploring art through fiber and cultures and is fascinated by the commonalities between humans all over the world. Her aim is to celebrate the threads that tie us all together.
Ms. Robin Pickett will be BGB advisor and mentor who has committed herself with sharing her enormous knowledge in exhibition design with Bodhgaya Biennale 2020.
